Could somebody crunch these numbers for me?
I forgot to bring my trusty "Texas Instrument" scientific pocket-calculator.
I don't even have a paper an pen handy at the moment.
So could one of you engineers/scientists
crunch the following numbers for me.
I'm "suspicious" about Brian Walker's
stated goal of reaching a "peak altitude" of 30 miles.
This is has to do with Brian Walker's
7,700 Ib 'space rocket'.
It will have 20 times as much propellant as his 770Ib test-rocket.
200Ibs hydrogen-peroxide X 20 = 4000Ibs.
Mass Ratio = 7,700Ibs/3,700Ibs = 2.333
Exhaust velocity of Hydrogen-Peroxide monopropellant = 4,500mph [SL].
Burn-time of his rocket-motor = 60 seconds.
Diameter of his rocket = 52 inches.
Jacob.
