Mark,
I'm pleased to read that you have some professional experience about this matter. So enlighten us. What are your opinions concerning the long term storage of nuclear waste, e.g. Yucca Mountain? What are your opinions concerning the chemical reprocessing of nuclear waste?
It seems to me a logical course of action to extract transuranic material from old fuel rods and then burn that material up in reactors. The medium and low level waste have a relatively short half life and are more appropriate for storage in Yucca Mountain. Also it seems to me that the graphite ball reactors lend themselves well towards the transport and reprocessing of nuclear waste.
