Re: That's what I've been saying and it's not good news.

The Earth’s weather is controlled by the Sun. Being able to control how much solar radiation reaches the Earth is the key to control the Earth’s weather. The best place to do this is from Earths orbit.

I picture a shade that can change how much solar radiation that passes through it at any point on the shade. This will allow humans to precisely control the weather at any given location on the Earth. Such a shade could be made in orbit from asteroid material. Perhaps some kind of carbon netting the can be flexed or stretched to control its thickness.

Or course, even with such technology, we’ll have to have a much greater understanding as to how our weather works.

With such technology, we could stop dangerous storms. We would also not be at the Sun’s mercy when it decides to throw out more solar radiation at us. Global warming would not be a problem.

Add a orbital lens, and we could create clouds to stop droughts.

Such technology and knowledge could help us terraforming Venus.
