I am not competent to answer your question, being more of a telecom computer systems and optical guy. based on physics I do not see why this would not be possible and I'd bet it's already used. I do not follow wireless PHY technology in much depth. I'm a Layer 2 and up person unless layer 1 is copper or optical.
