What value does the "Mars Institute" add? Or does it simply opportunistically erode support from a NASA pundit (Zubrin)?

What value does the "Mars Institute" truly add? Or does it simply opportunistically erode support from a NASA pundit (Zubrin), in exchange for favors from a consequently grateful NASA bureaucracy? There would appear to be a desire to appease the NASA civil servants in exchange for various favors unethically offered at unsuspected taxpayers' expense. Does anyone have any rebuttals for what's analyzed at:
