I feel your pain
I can certainly empathize that a smart kid may be wiser than many adults. I know I was. :^)
On the other hand, when and if you have kids of your own, you will feel quite different. Most children need someone to make the choices for them.
Preteens lack wisdom and experience and most (not all) teens are ruled by hormonal changes that make wise decisions impossible.
