Perhaps what Daschle said was not a good precedent, but it was a far cry from what the GOP did when our forces were engaged in Kosova. The GOP's threat to cut off funding for a combat mission while it was still being waged did nothing but give add and comfort to Milosovic. John McCain, a veteran, was extremely critical of his own party at the time. And let's not confuse this conflict with the brief bombing raid the GOP Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott "would not support at this time" during the preposturous impeachment debacle. The Kosova conflict which ended in a bloodless military victory for NATO happened well after that pathetic moment in our history.
