How useful is a destroyed sense of credability?
I understand your point but still don't condone lying or gross exaggeration to achieve a goal. Sooner or later, people will learn that the earlier claims were a lie so they won't trust any future claims. It's like the old story of the Boy Who Cried Wolf. When the wolf finally did show up, no one would listen to the boy because they didn't trust him anymore.
