During the Anita Hill - Clarence Thomas hearings, numerous NOW spokespeople went around saying there couldn't be a truly consensual relationship between a powerful person and his subordinate because you could never discount the possibility of coercion. They repeated this mantra when Bob Packwood got caught making boorish advances at the women around him. Despite the fact that none of these women lost their jobs for saying no, Packwood was driven out of the Senate. Rightfully so.
Funny how NOW changed their tune when Clinton got caught diddling an intern. They were very quiet, just as they've been about Condit. It seems the logical conclusion is that the rules just apply to Republicans. Democrats like Clinton were given the "one free grope" exemption.
There has been successful sexual harassment lawsuits in the corporate world over one time events like what happened to Paula Jones. Numerous military personnel have had their careers ended and worse over sexual harassment. There has even been successful sexual harassment lawsuits against schools and school kids over less than what Clinton got away with. If corporate officials, military personnel, and even school kids are held to a certain standard, then why on Earth would anyone tolerate government officials being held to a LOWER standard than everyone else? Those who seek political power over others (and let's just can that "public service" nonsense, it's a bunch of crap) must at the very least be held to the same standards as everyone else.
It's this gross hypocrisy that makes me despise so many liberals. Yes, I said despise. They remind me of the pigs in "Animal Farm" who went around saying, "All animals are created equal. Only some are more equal than others."
