Current Events » in reply to Comparing the 1969 Ted Kennedy - MJ Kopechne "controversy" with that of the 2001 Condit - Levy intrigue.

When I was a little girl, at my Nana's house...

...she had a little JFK shrine, as did many American families, particularly Catholics of Irish descent. One of the items included a series of Lincoln/Kennedy "co-incidences", which you just now reminded me of. Sure enough, these "amazing facts" are still alive on the internet.

The two biggest differences between the Kennedy case and the Condit case, apart from the fact that Ted was a national figure before something happened to his girlfriend, is that a) Kennedy was obviously with her at the time, and b) the Kopechne family knows where their girl is.

I feel awful when I think of Chandra Levy's family. To be nearly certain but not to know that someone you love is dead can be worse. At least with a funeral, you can mourn.
