I am a dem. I agree this is an inappropriate event to use for political gain. However, I think that your doing so, anyway, requires a political response on my part.

I am in favor of spending our dollars where they will do the most good. I think we just had a great example of where some dollars should have been thrown, but weren't.

I don't think we've had intellegent discussions on NMD (only this political shrieking) on a) feasibility, and b) cost/benefit.

What are you willing to do without, in order to create a tool that (for lots of reasons) stands a vanishingly low probability of ever doing anything good? Certainly not a tax cut!
