It's a direct application of the Golden Rule
He who has the gold rules. As long as someone is expected to pay for something, they most definitely have a say. If someone refuses to pay money to an institution they find offensive, that's their right. It's the moral equivalent of requiring blacks in the late 1950s to keep riding the bus even though they're being forced to ride in the back and to give up their seats to whites. If a college goes out of its way to offend, then those offended have every right to refuse to pay the institution. It's called voting with your dollars.
