I can think of myself or some former Army buddies that are well over the 37 age limit but could be effective in confined area combat. Besides, if potential terrorists know there may be Sky Marshalls on board, it stands to reason they'd be looking for the younger men. A man with a gray beard like mine or a woman probably wouldn't arouse too much suspicion. I wonder if they get to keep their frequent flier miles. That would be a good fringe benefit for having to put up with what the airlines laughingly call food (those that are still serving meals, anyway).
