If you notice 'everyone' wants evidence, from the taliban to the Chinese. This could either be to double check our motives, or find out what our intelligence gathering capability is, and use it for their own good.
Logically, with the WTC towers in flames, 6.5 thousand dead and the down bottoming out, it would be unfeasible to go after anyone other than who we think actually did this. It would be detrimental for us to be wasting our time with scapegoats.
As I have said before, I usually suspected this Usama guy as a scapegoat because we really had no idea who did it, but in these circumstances and for the reasons I just stated earlier I think differently.
in summary: we would not go after anyone other than the person who did this at a time like this, so therefor the only reason they would want our evidence is for their own intelligence purposes that run counter to ours.
