<If you notice 'everyone' wants evidence, from the Taliban to the Chinese. This could either be to double check our motives, or find out what our intelligence gathering capability is, and use it for their own good.
I think the main purpose of all this "asking for evidence" is to buy time to allow the terrorists and their networks to pull their assets out, scatter to the four winds, and hide in the deepest holes they can find.
