As I have said in the past, raw intelligence is no indication that a person is capable of actually thinking. Working at Stanford, I've seen any number of people with brains so big they have to trundle them around in wheelbarrows, and they are still blithering idiots that couldn't be trusted to handle meat at a fast food place.
A person who is a socialist in the face of the complete failure of the philosophy, around the world and under almost scientific conditions, just isn't using his brain.
