<McCarthy was an idiot.

At the same time, our country WAS being infiltrated on countless fronts in labor, entertainment, government and education, by communists directly supported by Moscow.

Go figure.





I wasn't sure what it was that would make something Constitutional. A lot of good people were taken out with McCarthyism, and I could never justify anything he did with so cavalier a statement as this. At no time does the end justify the means. Ever.

Now I suppose Freedom of Speech could be deprived if I were to speak out in favor of the Taliban?

We have laws for reasons, Tom, and the broad sweep of a canon solves nothing if the innocent are included in your barrage.

I realize this is falling on deaf ears, but I can hope.
