Fighters scramble during airliner incident
Someone who apparently is turning out to be a mentally-disabled person, rather than a terrorist, tried to get into a 767 cockpit. F-16s were on this plane like ducks on a June bug.
We are obviously prepared to blow a civilian airliner out of the sky at a moments notice, but are unwilling to allow trained pilots to carry arms in the cockpit. What's wrong with this picture? As a passenger, in a potential terrorist situation, would you feel safer with armed pilots, or looking out your window and seeing an F-16 with armed Sidewinders?
