Flight 93 was saved from crashing into a building by some very brave passengers who realized they had nothing to lose. This has been confirmed by the cockpit voice recorder. This deranged guy today was taken down by other passengers. If you know that the plane you're riding on will be shot down if successfully hijacked, you have a very strong incentive to prevent the hijacking.
I've heard that some cockpit crews are moving the crash ax to where they can get to it in a hurry. The FAA may not allow them to carry firearms but they're apparently arming themselves. God help the next "air rage" idiot who tries to break into the cockpit. He's likely to either get beaten half to death by the other passengers (one was actually killed last year) or a skull full of ax from the copilot. Either way works for me.
