"Any foreign government that comes to power in Afghanistan will see the same results. Only we can select our own government, and the Grand Counsel is our oldest form of democratic process for electing a government."
On Sunday, when the United States and Great Britain began bombing military points in Afghanistan, area resident Ali Seraj was in New York City speaking before a gathering of more than 500 Afghan-Americans, representatives of the northeastern portion of the United States.
According to Seraj, a native of Afghanistan and a prince in its royal family, the Afghan community in California had already approved of the air strikes in, and by late Sunday afternoon, the New York gathering had concurred.
"There was no objection from anyone concerning the attack," Seraj said. "In fact, a majority welcomed it because they see this as the only way to save Afghanistan from total annihilation. Some of the members have some concerns about the death toll amongst the innocent, but we all realize on a daily basis that a lot more people are killed by ethnic cleansing, or for any reason at all, as well as by starvation from being deprived of food by the Taliban."
The Sunday gathering included members of all Afghan ethnic groups, which comprise more than 20 tribes and subtribes.
Seraj said that in his speech he urged Afghans "to stop pointing fingers at who was at fault in the past, to look at the drastic, miserable situation of Afghanistan today, and to come up with a solution for tomorrow."

I wonder if that support is real, or merely mouthwork out of fear from local retaliation...
The real "truth to the matter" is always difficult to find,
