Multiculturalism vs. feminism

Good article by Cathy Young. Our openminded respect for other cultures is at times in direct conflict with our beliefs in modern, progressive social views, most notable the treatment of the half of the human population known as females. What enrages the barbaric Islamic fundamentalists seems to be our belief that women should be allowed to walk around in public with their faces showing "without being beaten by a stick". They also seem offended that we object to the enlightened practice of carving out a young girl's genitalia with a dull knife.

The superiority of Western culture over such savagery is precisely due to its Liberalism, or progressive nature if you prefer. I won't dare to make the arrogant claim that the West is superior to all cultures, or the culture of more moderate Islamic societies, but it's unquestionably far better than these friggin' animals...
