Sorry to hear about your weight loss program. I've had food poisoning 4 times (never in my own kitchen, never from the same place twice, once from the restaurant at the top of the WTC), so I'm apparently sensitive to it. I too am in favor of irradiation. One of those cases was from mishandled egg whites.

Re: the arsenic issue: Why not publish everyone's PPM of arsenic in the water and let people vote with their feet? Those whose families have lived there for generations would probably not leave, and those communities facing serious backlash would need to either get a treatment facility or get serious about risk factor education, which can only help scientific understanding. It's democratic as hell: people's right to choose will be upheld, at least in principle.

Those without the money to pick up and leave won't have any choice, but they don't have that choice in general now anyway. Perhaps they can get small stipends for participating in arsenic dosage studies for risk evaluation reports.
