I remember reading in a book about Desert Storm, (it may have been Every Man A Tiger by Gen. Chuck Horner and Tom Clancy, but I'm not certain), about the difficulties the Suadis had about women driving in Saudi Arabia, since it's against the law.

First they said no women, but we argued that we can't and won't divide our units up. Then they found out their big worry was women driving. We wouldn't back down and told them that it was 100% necessary that the women be able to drive. Then the Saudi official asked if the women would be in uniform. The answer was yes. The Saudi got a big smile on his face and said "if they are in uniform, they are not women, just soldiers" the point was dropped, and our women soldiers were told they need to be in uniform to drive.
