The point is not whether we piss off Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
It is whether we piss-off out putative Muslim allies in the area. Those 'allies' who we need to flyover or conduct missions from.
Those 'allies' we need to prevent a holy-war.

Invoking images of Richard v. Saladin was just plain dumb.
