Battelle Memorial Institute, based here in Columbus, Ohio, was testing a system to weigh vehicles without a scale about 10-15 years ago. There was a huge UV lamp set up on I-270 on the east side that was supposed to do the trick, logging the weight of individual vehicles as they sped by at 55 to 75 mph. I never read the results on it, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get a reading from inside a container, perhaps a group of signature elements that could label a vehicle as carrying suspicious cargo.
