Why can't the telemetry be broadcast
periodicly to a ground station that would record it so that it would be available immediatly following an accident. For example every 5 seconds a burst transmission could be sent to the ground and then recorded. Each plane could be given a mobile connection to an internet of sorts...Nearly real time data available if and when needed.
