I suspect that regardless of what happened between Martin and Zimmerman, the police investigation was botched, and all this confusion is part of a hastily improvised cover-up.For example, why isn't there a coroner's report of the examination of Martin's body? This would have been top priority after a shooting. Why wasn't the telephone witness interviewed by police? She and the cell phone records were turned up by Martin family attorneys. Why haven't we heard about the child witness until last night? The cops interviewed him within days of the incident. A bleeding suspect is treated very gingerly by authorities because of HIV concerns, I would imagine medical pros would have been immediately called in to treat any injuries.

It is possible that Martin was indeed the aggressor and the shooter was justified. What I believe is more likely is that both parties are at fault, that the situation spiralled out of control due to a misunderstanding provoked by an overzealous Zimmerman and over-reacted to by an overly sensitive or panicky Martin.
