This story, as sappy in many ways as it sounds, is important. It is not the removal of repression that moves a nation forward as much as it is the return of civil functions. And the actions of citizens to restore some semblance of a free and more open society.

Read the story closely, this man has endangered himself to keep his responsibilities to the animals in his charge. He could have done much worse.
The return by the Afghani people to the fold of the world community will be driven as much by actions such as his, as the military actions now occurring.
Movie theatres opening, Radio and television transmitting varied programming. Magazines and artwork dug out of hiding.
A society is far more than a government, it is a people living life.
Those people now have a chance to live a decent life.

(And FYI, I contributed to the fund that was being set up for the Zoo)
