1 Terrahertz is for individual transistors

It probably won't be applicable for an entire CPU. For one thing, terrahertz (THz) speeds have severe ramifications dealing with system geometry and the limitations of electrical signal propagation at the speed of light. Using the approximation of 300 million meters per second for c (I'm not sure what the speed of light is in a semiconductor), at a 1 THz clock speed a signal only travels 0.3 mm. That makes for some dense feature packing.

However, this new technology does seem to extend Moore's Law for at least a few more generations. Faster speed, less current draw, lower heat sink requirements - slick!
