Count yourself lucky

My family and I had good treatment in some facilities like the Air Force Academy hospital and at Ft. Meade. I also had fair to poor treatment at Ramstein. My wife had several problems with the clinic on Peterson. She went in with a ruptured eardrum once and they gave her Sudafed. When she finally got a referral to a civilian ENT about a month later, he just laughed at the treatment she'd received, it was so inadequate. A squadron mate of mine went there with severe abdominal pain. They said he was constipated and they gave him laxatives. In fact, he had a ruptured appendix, so the laxatives just made his periotonitis (sp) worse. He almost died from the infection and the only reason he didn't was his wife raised a holy uproar until he was checked out.

Even that pales in comparison to the stuff that went on at Landstuhl. Every time I hear someone advocating that the US go to a single payer (government ran) health care system, I think of Landstuhl. No, thank you.
