which, on an A-10, makes the plane pretty useless. A properly dressed A-10 carries a lot of stuff hanging out in the breeze which slows the plane considerably. A-10 pilots will tell you that just gives them more time to line up on their targets...

There are many jokes about how slow the A-10 is. Like lawyer and blond jokes, many of the best A-10 jokes come from A-10 pilots themselves. When I was in Squadron Officer School back in 1991, some A-10 pilot played a comedy music video about his beloved Warthog. He wouldn't let any of us have a copy of the tape despite our begging. It was funny! I don't remember all of it, but it included lines like "I don't need no Mach meter cause I've got a calendar" The chorus line went "I'm a Yank in a bank killing commies in a tank. WARTHOG!" Maybe you had to be there but we all enjoyed it.
