<A stable regime in Afghanistan would allow construction of an oil and gas pipeline from the former Soviet republics in Central Asia to Pakistan and the sea.
Well, we’ll just have to see about stopping this ‘stable regime’ plan. The last thing we want is a show of profit for anyplace east of Turkey! Oh, sure, they make nice carpets and stuff with beads, but come on!
FBI agents had been told by the Bush administration to back off investigating members of the bin Laden clan living in the U.S.
What form had this investigation taken? What lines did it cross?
The family of bin Laden is not a powerless ‘clan’. They are wealthy, with ties to OPEC. It’s not nice to piss OPEC off by harassing its members with pointless investigations and unproven allegations. What crime has this family committed (other than being wealthy and politically active) that was ever been ‘hinted at’ by the U.S. Government that could possibly be brought to a court of law?
Dunno. Maybe the law is so different in Canada, and anyone who so much as looks at a bin Laden is guilty of premeditated murder by association.
In September, the Wall Street Journal documented the lucrative business connections between the bin Laden family and senior U.S. Republicans, including the president's father, George Bush Sr.
How dare the bin Ladens conduct international business, and they with a outcast son! Shoot them all!!
This weekend, Spain announced it would not extradite suspected Al Qaeda terrorists to the U.S. as long as Bush plans to try such people in military tribunals. We should recall that the Taliban imposed conditions on their extradition offer, too, conditions the U.S. deemed unacceptable. Will Madrid be the anti-terror coalition's next target?
Sure. Nuke Spain.
What can I say, Greg? Some crack-heads in Toronto hate anything the U.S. does, regardless, and they’ll keep picking at us until we fester. Your Mr. Walkom is no different.
Does he make points? Yes, he does. Very prejudicial ones. The boy needs to take a few deep breaths of real freedom before he types.
The conditions imposed by the Taliban are unacceptable, simply because we do not negotiate with known terror organizations. At the moment, Spain does not fall into this category, and I'm sure there are talks going on with them right now.
