Edu Bill Passed
House OVERWHELMINGLY passed the education bill. I'm glad to see it mandates testing and performance improvements. Here in MA, the teachers assn has fought bitterly against using standardized tests to qualify for a HS diploma. Unfortunately, poor families continue to be victims of teachers union lobbying politics as their ability to secure vouchers useable for better schools was denied.
Given the overwhelming mandate in the voter represented House, the Senate should not play elitist and move rapidly to enactment.
