The Democrats who control the Senate have a single objective: Take control of the government*. Everything else is way down the list. Right now their best bet is to make sure Bush has NO successes in any part of the government agenda. They could do nothing about the success of the Afghanistan war, but Bush is vulnerable in other areas. And if not, the stonewall Senate approach will work just as well. No bills passed. No votes on bills. Nothing.

*If the Devil offered Daschle a huge Democratic win in the next two elections in return for dropping half the United States into the sea, Daschle would at least stop and think about it.
