We victims rights activists out here in cyberspace are doing something unusual-- we are trying to get justice for dead people.
On December 16th (tomorrow will be the 11th anniversary) 1989, a 23 year old girl named Julia Ashe was walking out of a mall in Waterbury, Connecticutt. She held Christmas presents in her arms. When she got to her car, she found she had a flat tire.
A young black male named Sedrick Cobb walked up, and offered to fix the flat. She let him, and he asked only that she give him a ride afterwards. Being in the Christmas spirit, she agreed. On the way out of the parking lot, he put a knife to her throat, and made her drive to a seclude area, where he brutally raped and sodomized her.
He bound her face and mouth with fiberglass tape, bound her hands and feet, and then drove to a dam, where he threw her body over the edge. Julia fell 24 feet to a ledge, hit and rolled off it, and then splashed into icy water. She managed to use a metal grate to cut off the tape on her hands, and she cut her face up on that grate trying to get the tape off her head.
She then stuggled over to the edge of the icy water, but there was SEDRICK COBB! He had walked down to the edge where he pushed her back out into the freezing waters of that December night.
Horrified homicide cops found her feet sticking up thru the ice on Christmas Day, 1989.
Convicted of the crime and sentenced to death, Cobb resides in a Supermax today.
His appeals are making their way thru the courts far too slowly, and we are now PUSHING THE STATE to go forward with his execution. If this story has outraged you, please write to the Attorney General of the state.
