Re: Left vs. Right

<Right is NO BETTER than left. It's just on the other side.

Americans were no better than Nazis, they just fought on opposite sides of the war. Both used tanks, bombs, guns and other nasty weapons, and killed many people in battles. Right.

So there is no objective way to tell which is right and which is wrong? That sounds familiar.

The Left and Right, collectivism and individualism, have profound and basic differences in philosophy. I know the rotten roots of the Left clean back to Marx and beyond. Eighty million people have died on the altar of collectivism this century, not counting victims of wars.

And while Bush, the Republicans, and the American Right may not be as clear and consistent as defenders of the principles of individual rights as I might like, they are much preferable to their counterparts on the other side. The American Left represents the principles of collectivism, and unfortunately they often do so with much more consistency and purpose than their opponents.*

The reasons for this are complex, but basically break down to the fact that the Right in this country blindly accepts many of the collectivist premises of the Left, and is philosophically defenseless in many conflicts with the Left because of this.

*Due to the sympathetic posture of the educational systems and mainstream information dispersal systems, they also, unfortunately, have a lot more success.
