No, not at all!
He had to send a paper to the nearest Belgian consulate (Chicago), for 6 years, that prooved he had a residence and a full time job in the US, so that he could avoid the draft in Belgium. I didn't avoid it.
And my mother never renounced her American citizenship nor did my brother and I renounce our American citizenship.
We know someone who renounced her Canadian citizenship.
