Continued from this post.
From the Washington Post: let the lies begin. Objective: crush the Republican Party aqnd wipe every last wet bit of it out of existence by any means necessary. Nail down the Senate, get the House back, and use those platforms to make Bush a complete loser by 2004. Goddammit, he's going to PAY for stealing that election!
The Democrats, born and bred to the ear-biting, eye-gouging, back-stabbing, ball-crushing, talk-talk fight-fight, Gom Jabbar style of political warfare, are raring to go. They are going to pull totally false allegations out of their asses with the speed of a chain gun and their toadies in the media will be pouring oil on the smoking bearings of their presses to keep up.
Republicans, who on my good days remind me of that old Western character in the stupid derby hat and handlebar moustache, standing there with his fists up in the best Marquis of Queensbury pose while facing down a bunch of bandolier-wearing rusty-knifed bandits*, had better figure this out sooner than later.
- Did you know that the $600 bucks (max) you got back a few months ago are responsible for the deficit? And for the destruction of Social Security? And for the fall of civilization in general? That's what you will hear from the media. You won't hear about the attack on the U.S. having maybe something to do with a few budget problems.
- Are you aware that most of the real tax cuts haven't even occurred yet? That they were backloaded into the future? That the actual fiscal impact of the tax cuts/rebates in the year 2000 was almost lost in the noise? You sure aren't going to hear that from the media.
- Are you aware that the current economic downturn started during the Clinton Administration? Some people point to the last straw on the camel's back as the rabid Clinton Administration attack on Microsoft, which took a lot of tech stocks down with it. I know from my own portfolio that my tech stocks started the Big Dive in March of 2000. Not going to hear much about that from the media either, I wager.
Of course, there will be deep drifts of frozen hydrogen in Hell before a Democrat discusses any form of real spending cuts--or even reductions in spending growth--as a way to balance budgets.
As Drudge likes to say, "Developing..."

The real war continues
