Snake (Joe Pantoliano) is up in his apartment with a brief case with a lot of money in it (excess of hundreds of thousands). Chicago PD detectives Ray Hughes (Gregory Hines) and Danny Costanzo (Billy Crystal) are trying to get “information” from him. Snake is refusing to help the cops. Danny opens the window and yells out to the neighborhood (and this is not the best of neighborhoods -- even a few Hollywood-steps below “bad”) that Snake is holding a briefcase with hundreds of thousands of dollars in unmarked U.S. currency, and that he would appreciate any help from the man’s friendly neighbors in keeping this money safe from theft -- considering the flimsy lock Snake has on his front door, and the fact that he and Detective Hughes were leaving now.
