If Rabin hadn't been assassinated...
Ehud Barak wasn't assassinated - he offered the Palestinians as much as Rabin would have, perhaps more, and they turned him down to wage more war against Israel.
And recall that Osama Bin Laden's original reason for going to war against America had nothing to do with Israel - it was his objection to the presence of American troops in Saudia Arabia at the time of the Gulf War (a war during which unprovoked aggression as committed against Israel, I might add). Exactly why should it be forbidden for Americans or other foreigners to set foot in Saudia Arabia when America and other Western countries welcome people from all over the world by the thousands, by the millions, into their countries? This primitive and backwards notion preached by Islamic fanatics like Bin Laden, that a evil Kafir such as an American or a European setting foot in their country is somehow a sacriligious violation of their sacred pissing ground, this lunatic way of thinking is the cause of the whole damn problem in the Middle East.
And yes, I'll admit that crazy Jewish settlers shooting Arabs in the West Bank to get the holy land God promised them is just as bad...
But Israel and its existence, and America's and Europe's support of Israel is NOT the root cause. Intolerant religious thinking existed long before Israel did. Don't forget that Bin Laden refers to us as 'Crusaders'. If not one single Jew were alive in this world, Bin Laden would still be attacking America, accusing us of all kinds of evildoing, for what happened 1,000 years ago.
