Re: The Lights . . .

<The lights look cool but, they shine up to the stars and will distribute a glow in the night sky unwelcome to an amateur astronomer and dark sky groups.

If you're worried about star-gazing and light pollution, and you're talking about Manhattan, I tend to agree with Raoul. You should just move.

Like the Oklahoma terrorist tragedy the area will make a nice park & memorial for the world to visit, reflect and give respect to.

An absolute waste.

At Lower Manhattan, the bedrock is close enough to the surface to support constructs of huge design. Central Manhattan has no surface bedrock, so it supports much smaller structures, as well as a very large, very famous park.

I like the idea of the lights, and I think they should be employed as soon as possible, and they should remain as a tribute during reconstruction -- which will likely not happen. the terrorists have told us we belong in the dirt with them, so that's probably where we'll choose to stay. It's easier. It's safer. Move in a little closer to the fire, everyone. It's getting real creepy out there.

If we don't rebuild, that's exactly where this generation of kids will be.

You want a tribute?

I think the Sphere, remounted without any touch-up work to restore it, placed in a new World Trade Center Plaza would be fitting, complete with two towers of American defiance for freedom.
