<It is embarassing to see social Darwinist risk throwing their shoulders out joint trying to pat themselves on the back as Brosz and Samorodin are doing. The poor must be that way because they deserve to be. God ordained them to be poor and wants all the haves, such as Brosz and Samorodin, to do whatever they can to see this balance be maintained. At least Marx had an awareness of, and a sympathy for those emeshed in poverty and recognized the government as being the only agent to change this awful disparity between the rich and poor. But then the experts on Marx's philosophy will explain how society is enriched by Barry Boggs ninety million dollar contract for his godly expertise of playing with balls. Get real gentlemen, and get a little compassion for those less fortunate than you.
The joke, which you obviously missed, was an attempt to make a minimum wage that is equal to the average wage. This is mathematical nonsense, and was funny.
As for the rest of your first-year-in-college tirade, I don't know why Marx still has any credibility at all with anyone. The record of Marxism on improving human life, compared with that of capitalism, speaks quite clearly for itself. One might almost say it screams.
Of course, there are many people out there who have skulls apparently capable of stopping a neutrino in its tracks, who refuse to see the blood-soaked evidence of history. The philosophy of Marxism and other forms of socialism has slaughtered over eighty million people in this century, and that does not count people who have died during international wars. If this is compassion, I'll take vanilla.
Barry Bonds--I assume you meant him, since I have no idea who the hell Barry Boggs is--makes millions because the law of supply and demand works. The planet contains millions of people who can work a 7-11 counter, but only one who plays ball like Barry Bonds. The price of his services is set accordingly, and despite the rather perceptual view of economics by the typical leftist, his salary does not come out of the mouths of the poor.
Suffice it to say that I have as much compassion for the poor as anyone, but attempting to correct this balance by robbing me at gunpoint of what I have earned, the standard operating procedure of the leftist, does not come under the definition of compassion in any religion that I am aware of.
