California courts have made a career of blowing initiatives out of the water if they don't fit the liberal agenda. Apparently the "will of the people" is honored by liberals only so long as that will is going in the right direction.

However, that being said, one must also admit that the whole initiative process lends itself to abuse on all sides. We cheer when an initiative passes in our favor, but here in California some real jackass initiatives have passed as well, and thank God there are some checks and balances on these things.

After all, that is why a constitutional republic is better than a pure democracy ("three wolves and two sheep deciding what to have for supper.")
