<It's simple. In the Democrat media machine's headlong rush to torpedo the Bush presidency, the facts just don't matter. Worse still, so far at least, the White House shows little indication that it comprehends any of this.

I suppose the other possiblity is it's still on the front pages because most conservative opinion makers are liars for the Republican Party.

I wonder which explanation fits the facts better.



Given the past performance and political record of the mainstream media, the first explanation of course. Given the facts so far, the collapse of Enron due to the stupid and probably criminal behavior of its execs is a legitimate news story. Attempting to pin any real blame for this collapse on Bush, other Republicans, or even Democrats who took contributions, is not a legitimate news story.

I have seen nothing solid so far about any politician from any party doing something outright illegal in this case. Taking contributions from corporations, constituents, and voters and doing favors in return is business as usual in the District of Columbia. In fact, it's probably the only business anymore in the District of Columbia. If you threw every politician in jail who did favors in return for contributions, the place would be a ghost town.

As the 2002 elections approach, the desperation of the left is going to result in even more amazing non-stories covering the front pages. Wait and see.
