Sharon should 'condemn' all of the retalitory strikes israel has made against the palestinians, claim they were made by rouges within his cabinet and without his consent, then lead his best generals and cabinet members to jail, barely able to retain the smirks on their faces on national television and let them right back out the back door. Then order another round. . . . just as a humorous parting shot to Arafat.
The whole reason Arafat is resigning is because he is loosing Palestinian support. Israel has put him on the spotlight to where he cannot play both sides anymore, and he is showing that in th eface of israel, he will not stand up for the palestinian cause, and the palestinians are not happy.
In the end I fear the palestinians will get what they wish for, a fighter in place of Arafat, someone who speaks for all of palestine, and then the truth will be known what they really want. I fear it will be someone who will stand up to israel get cut down, and lead thousands of palestinians to their deaths in vain.
I just don't get it. They would all have some credibility to their cause if they would suicide bomb the workers bulldozing their homes, if they would attack the israeli settlements. . . in effect they would be fighting agaisnt their main complaint, against their alleged greivance. I can only conclude that since they are not doing this, thier true greivence is agaisnt israel itself.
Bottom line: actions speak louder than words. When actions contradict words, belevie the actions. The palestinians actions are that they want to attack all of israel, and that settlements are a small part fo their concern. Against this what can you do?
They do not want peace, they only want cease fire so that they can attack without the retaliation. We can only help them get peace if they truely want it, and they don't. Therefor we should just let them fight it out. It is sadly the only answer. Maybe when thousands have died, those that are left will be the minority that want peace, and that goal will be acheivable. But it certainly is not now.
