I suspected most of this was true. Another approach might be to try and build VTOL capacity into as many future military aircraft as possible. I wonder if there is a practical upper size limit to this. The "Helicarrier" picture was neat, but I'll believe someone can build a jet engine 300 feet in diameter when I see it.
