Media execs don't run the show. We do, by surfing the web and TV stations for events of interest -- regardless whether the item is of minor of extreme interest. It's a ratings game, and its all done to make us happy recipients of their product.
Information doesn't have to be useful -- or even true. It just has to be interesting.
