I thought it was a great speech. I really think that what we see with this President is what we get, as far as any politician can allow himself to be "visible" to the public. Though a good public speaker, he's not ultra-slick, which has led to accusations that he's also not a stellar intellect, which imho is terribly unfair and obviously untrue. He's not "handled" to the point that we can no longer see the man for the make-up. He's not rehearsed...he's real. As we get more and more "behind the scenes" glimpses of the man doing his job, we see a sharp-witted, insightful, decisive leader.
Personally, I don't want a performance artist as President. I'd much rather have substance than slick, and that's what we've got with Bush. He's the genuine article, a leader who strives to apply ethics in a dirty, nasty business. I truly beleive he's in the White House because he wants what's best for America. He's not in anyone's hip pocket, he's not "chasing skirt." He's leading the free world in a terribly difficult and uncertain time.
Just one person's opinion.
ps. to save time and bandwidth:
McFly, you're a mindless automoton, rallying around the flag 'cause you don't have the will to resist jumping on the bandwagon, you pathetic right-wing weasel!
Ouch...that kinda hurt...
