Re: Democratic support for Civil Defense

Tom...

You are thinking logically. With democratic leadership - that's a big no-no.

You know full well that they would not support the fallout shelter development.

Sometime in 2002...

Daschle:
"As you can see in less than two years time, the economy has tumbled into a deep recession due to the tax cuts implemented for the wealthiest individuals, individual liberties are at an all time low and now we are asked to dig into the ground for fear fear of imminent nuclear attack? Does anyone beside me see a problem with these developments? We need new leadership which is not as provocative and antagonistic to our global neighbors."

Gephardt:
"Yes, the time has come to follow the track we are pursuing to a logical conclusion. Our military adventures are putting us in greater jeopardy and the funding of national fallout shelters will surely speed the collapse of social security and medicare. This is clearly unacceptable. I am announcing my candidacy today as a new option and a return to sanity...."

Believe me...if I can pull this out of the air with a moments notice...the speechwriters are coming up with far worse and damning material and propaganda for commercials...

Heres a good bet...

Look for commercials and speeches to revolve around togetherness and patriotism...but quickly degenerate into "a need for a new direction".

The only possible way is if the Senor' PORKO de LARDO is brought in and could be promised to enough Senators and districts and all the shelters were built by local state level contracting.

Of course this sort of thing would likely make the costs skyrocket.

But bottom line is they really just don't care.
