This story rated three inches in a sidebar on Page 6 of my paper under a column titled "In Brief." Apparently this news is not supposed to get out, but it's an open secret that the Democrats have sworn mighty oaths that Bush will get a judicial nominee confirmed over their dead, rotting bodies. "That bastard is going to pay for Florida!" If a Supreme Court appointment comes up, look for Democrats to douse themselves with kerosene, set themselves alight, and hurl their flaming bodies onto the nominee.

The judicial system has become an important fifth column for leftists who find the normal democratic process tedious and demeaning, with voters often supporting positions and propositions that leftists disagree with. They won't give up even a small part of it easily.

Another piece of news that somehow slid past the front pages was a Clinton-appointed judge blocking Bush's appointee to the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.

The current appointee, Commissioner Victoria Wilson, has refused to leave in favor of Bush appointee Peter Kirsanow, and as far as I know is still standing in the doorway waving an axe handle.
